What advice do you have for new writers seeking publication?

Read as much as you can and write as much as you can. Write something you would love to read. Write only what you're passionate about. Join writers' groups like ACFW and RWA and find a critique group that is honest but not overly harsh. And study books on the craft writing. Most of all, pray and work as hard as you can. When you think your book is ready, send queries and proposals to legitimate agents and/or to editors at your target publisher. Keep praying and never give up, because it's sometimes a long journey to publication.

Do you have more fairytale retellings on deck?

Yes! The Fairest Beauty is a Snow WhIte and the Seven Dwarfs story scheduled to release in August, and I have a Cinderella story that comes out early in 2013. I hope to write at least a couple more fairy tale retellings before I'm done. Please keep an eye on my facebook page or website for announcements.

Why do you write medieval romance?

I love medieval romance because it was such a colorful time in history, with its own particular rules of society, etiquette, feasts and festivals. I can let my imagination go with medieval romance, because there were so many interesting situations common in medieval romances, like betrothals that were legally binding, marriages for political purposes, not to mention that medieval clothes were so spectacularly different, and damsels were often in distress and in need of a knight in shining armor.

Why do you base your stories on fairy tales?

I have always loved fairy tales and been fascinated by the prospect of fleshing out traditional fairy tales and turning them into an indepth romance. I was fascinated by the idea of taking a well-known fairy tale and making it real, with realistic characters and realistic reactions to their circumstances.
